Meet your committee

Did you know that the THVH Committee is made up of 6 local residents? Read on to learn more about them, as we introduce the first three members!

Meet the THVH Committee: a photo of Dan in a polaroid frame with his name underneath. My role on the committee: Having grown up in villages, I am a big advocate of rural village life. As chair of the committee, it's my job to run our meetings and drive action to deliver the best hall for the village. I want to leverage our community spirit and see the hall becomes the heart of our village for years to come. Hobbies and interests: I love anything outdoor cooking - you can usually find me by the BBQ or pizza oven! My Best Kebab order: Donner meat and chips, with chilli sauce and garlic mayo
Meet the THVH Committee: a photo of Kat in a polaroid frame with her name underneath. My role on the committee: This is my first village committee role so I'm learning as I go. I am a trustee and vice chair, I ask lots of questions and help out where I can - I want to help give this community a place we can all share and enjoy for years to come. I'm a childminder so you will usually see me playing in the parks or walking around the village and I'm always happy to chat. Random Fact: The stringy bits on bananas are called phloem bundles! My Best Kebab order: Chicken wrap, salad, and chilli sauce
Meet the THVH Committee: a photo of Chris in a polaroid frame with his name underneath. My role on the committee: I am the clerk which means I organise the meetings and take the minutes. I am also a trustee of the charity set up to run the hall. I believe the hall is a much-needed asset for the community and will play an important role in village life. Hobbies and interests: My 3 dogs take up a lot of my time, you’ve probably seen me walking them around the village or on the Polish. I also like F1 and have been to the British GP twice. My Best Kebab order: Chicken with chips and all the salad with plain mayo

An update from site

You may have seen that the site office, cement hoppers and building materials have gone! Mulberry Homes have been working to clear and level the site, and just this week have laid tarmac for the village hall car park. The area surrounding the car park will be laid to lawn, and you’ll soon see play equipment being installed. This was a requirement of the planning agreement and has been arranged by the builder, but we’re exploring what other outdoor play provision we could have following our recent survey.

Our next newsletter

Look out for the next edition, in which we’ll introduce the other three committee members. We also hope to be able to share more exciting updates as things progress!

Q: How do I get involved?

A: If you have a skill, business or interest that you think would be useful in contributing to the building or ongoing success of the hall, please get in touch. Donations of goods, services, skills or funds are gratefully received. Once the hall is built, we will also be looking for volunteers to help run events.

Q: How can I stay up-to-date with progress on the hall?

A: Sign up to receive our newsletter, like and follow the Facebook page ‘Temple Herdewyke Village Hall’ or email: thvillagehall@gmail.com.
